Steve Barton’s success as an artist came early. Ironically, Barton’s journey to success as an artist began in New Hampshire, far away from the Southern California settings that now inspire his work. Steve’s mother was an oil painter who encouraged his creativity at a very young age, and he sold his first painting by age 16.
After studying at Rhode Island School of Design, Steve received the Congressional Art Award from the state of New Hampshire and was commissioned by Senator John Sununu to paint “The Old Man Mountain,” an image of a local landmark. In 1992 Barton decided to pursue art through another route and traveled west in search of new subject matter. California coastlines, old cottages, serene beaches and tranquil scenes captured Steve's heart and became the inspiration for the Barton Collection.
Steve invites you to visit his MySpace and facebook pages for a more personal perspective on the artist and what inspires his creative spirit.
